Accela is proud to have once again been a major sponsor of the Code for America Summit, an event that has become the can’t miss gathering of the civic tech world.
This year’s Summit was held for the first time in Oakland, CA at a much larger venue – recognizing the strong growth in attendance at the event over the past several years. In addition to our presence in the tech fair with other technology companies, Accela Developer Evangelists lead two of the breakout sessions over the course of the Summit.
Mark Headd lead a breakout session on using GitHub to build new open data standards. This session highlighted Accela’s work in leading a coalition of civic tech companies in developing a new data standard for building permits.
Seth Axthelm led a breakout session showcasing some of the powerful new data dashboard applications being developed by Accela customers. The session highlighted the groundbreaking with being done in the cities of Palo Alto, Los Angeles and Philadelphia and the discussion that ensued surfaced some techniques that other cities can use to build their own data dashboards.
Accela has been a strong supporter of organizations like Code for America for many years, and it’s gratifying to see the support of our company and others contribute to the explosive growth of the civic tech community.
We’re already eagerly anticipating next year’s Code for America Summit!
